Drug Uses
Temovate cream is a topical anti–inflammatory medication that is used for treatment of many skin conditions. This cream helps to lessen itching, redness, and swelling and is suitable for most skin types.
How Taken
Temovate comes as a cream. Before you apply Temovate, cleanse and dry the affected area, then a thin layer of cream should be applied and gently massaged into the affected areas. Use this medication two times a day. There is no need to cover or bandage the affected skin area after applying the medicine. Avoid eye area when applying Temovate, if the cream does get into your eyes, you should rinse your eyes thoroughly with warm water. Follow your doctor`s prescriptions carefully.
Warnings/Precautions
Temovate Cream on its own will not be able to treat the condition if it is an infection. Contact your doctor if your condition does not improve or worsens. This drug is in the FDA pregnancy category C, which means that studies in animals have revealed adverse effects on the fetus (teratogenic or embryocidal or other) and there are no controlled studies in women, or studies in women and animals are not available. It is unknown if Temovate passes into breast milk. Therefore, do not use Temovate without your doctor`s approval if you are pregnant, likely to become pregnant or breast feeding. If it is essential to use Temovate during pregnancy, your doctor might prescribe you the lowest possible dose for a shortest time possible for treatment of the condition. Do not use this medication without your doctor`s supervision.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose use it as soon as you remember. However, if it is nearly time for the next dose, skip the Missed Dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not use a double dose to make up for a missed one.
Possible Side Effects
Some of the Possible Side Effects are- blurred vision, halos around lights, an irregular heartbeat, insomnia, mood changes, weight gain, fatigue, redness, blistering, burning, itching, peeling, thinning of the skin, prolonged redness, and stretch marks. These side effects are more likely to occur if Temovate is used for a long time. Contact your doctor if you experience any of these or any other side effects.
Storage
Store at room temperature 20–25°C (68 –77°F). Keep away from children and excess heat, light and moisture (not in the bathroom).
Overdose
If overdose is suspected, seek medical attention immediately. If Temovate is absorbed into the bloodstream a prolonged period of time, disorders, such as Cushing's syndrome may be caused.
More Information
Unless your doctor tells you otherwise, do not use plastic bandages, dressings, or diapers that do not allow air to circulate. Occlusive dressings may very much increase the quantity of drug absorbed by the body. If you do use an occlusive dressing, avoid using it for longer than 12 hours a day. Do not use other topical products on the treated area, unless otherwise directed by your doctor.
